Sonya Rykiel commemorated its 50th anniversary with Le Pavé

Sonia Rykiel presented its collection of Le Pavé bags at the Santa Eulalia pop-up show. A declaration of style designed by Julie de Libran, the firm's creative director.

Made of leather and available in 8 colours: black, white, brown, light blue, navy blue, green, red and yellow, Le Pavé is known for its cubic, modern and practical designs. The bag contains a mirror and key ring and can also be worn on the shoulder.

The company celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2018 by remembering the protests taking place in France in May 1968. The bag is inspired by the Parisian cobblestones trampled underfoot during the riots.

De Libran joined the maison in 2014 after working at Prada and Louis Vuitton, where she was Marc Jacobs' right-hand woman. She also worked with Rykiel herself until her death in August 2016 at the age of 86. The French designer, a key figure in the sixties and seventies, was inspired by freedom and rebellion and designed with liberated women in mind. De Libran is now responsible for passing on this legacy.
